It's been a while!

Yes, I've completely neglected this blog! I've been pretty busy over the last few months, going to Cyprus on holiday, leaving my old job and starting a new one and life in general has kept me fairly busy! I will be updating this blog properly very shortly, there are lots of new additions to my "hug" which deserve some posts! A few weeks ago I went to a teddy bear fair and came away with lots of goodies, as you can probably imagine. I've also got back into making bears again - at the beginning of the year I had a wrist injury which prevented me from being very creative (and was of course very frustrating!) but I'm back on form now. I have a little bit more time too with my new job, as I now work my hours over 4 days rather than 5 and I don't work weekends or nights at the moment which is nice!

Way back in February / March time I got a bargain bear on eBay, which turned out to be a c.1930s Chad Valley. He's not in the best condition, with only one eye and work being needed on his paw pads, but for around £40 I don't mind! I'm planning to do some restoration work on him soon, when I can source the right kind of eye for him!

With Christmas coming up now would be a good time to sell bears but unfortunately I haven't had time to develop my own patterns yet and so am unable to sell any of the bears I've made. I'm hoping to work on that and develop my own style of bears which I will hopefully be successful at selling, but obviously that will take some time and a lot of effort!

So... the next update (in the next couple of days) will be about my purchases from the Leeds Doll & Teddy Bear Fair (October 13th) and then I will post about my latest old bears which haven't been featured yet. That post will include a c.1906 Steiff bear who needs quite extensive restoration, my 1930s Chad Valley bear and a 1950s Pedigree bear. I will also be writing a post about my progress with bear making to date, which includes a couple of elephants!

I apologise for the severe lack of posts over the last few months, but sometimes life gets in the way!
